For the technically minded reader, our overall tech approach can be discribed as follows:

The PervasiveEdge architecture is based on a distributed framework; each component fulfills a specific task in the architecture and can be connected to others to form the custom system, as per each customer's requirement.

The components can be installed on a single machine initially, or run on separate machines as their loading increases - multiple instances of the components can be used when necessary.

Components exist for delivering messages to gateways; receiving and processing Mobile Originated content (MO); routing of messages; web based subscriber interface; web based administration interface; credit card billing etc. - these are connected using a messaging framework backbone.

Real-time replication of data between installations increases reliability and redundancy. PervasiveEdge provide systems that are able to adapt to changes in customer requirements - components like Premium SMS services or extra content types (i.e. WAP, MMS etc.) can be added as required.

Scalability is achieved naturally in the Pervasive Edge infrastructure - the web interface scales by adding more web servers and using load-balancing techniques to ensure that clients are shared evenly across them. The database servers are inherently scalable - data replication ensures that several servers exist concurrently that can answer read requests, write requests being directed to the primary server(s).  The components involved in the distribution of content can be run on a single machine or across several machines, giving the flexibility required to grow as the service take-up increases.
